Patrick Alexander studied English and Philosophy at Sussex University in the UK and moved to France in 1972 where he married and raised a family. During the 30 years spent traveling the world as an international finance professional, Patrick never lost his love for 19th century French literature. Trans-Pacific flights were never taken without a copy of Marcel Proust in his lap. Patrick resigned from his position as Director of Professional Advancement (and Director of the Wine Program) at the University of Miami in 2007 to focus on writing full time. His book Marcel Proust's Search for Lost Time will be published by Vintage Books in September 2009.
Patrick and his wife divide their time between Miami and France. Their grandchildren are being raised just outside Cabourg on the coast of Normandy - a town immortalized as Balbec in Marcel Proust's great novel. Patrick is currently working on his own novel The Nigerian Letter and also on a second volume of his recollections.
