This is a delightful fun video recorded by Patrick Alexander and friends at Books & Books in Coral Gables in July 2009.
NEW ILLUSTRATED 'BEDSIDE PROUST':
Patrick Alexander and David Richardson are collaborating on an illustrated version of all seven volumes of Proust's novel. The text is based on the abridged version of the novel, currently being rewritten by Patrick on Twitter starting in November 2010.
The twenty or so paintings by David Richardson illustrate such key moments in the novel as the Death of Bergotte or the Duchess' Red Shoes.
The book is called The Bedside Proust because, each line being so rich, it is to be read in small morsels and savored before going to sleep. Sample excerpts and illustrations may be seen at http://tinyurl.com/33f2xfb
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) Twitter was not available in 1909 when Marcel Proust began writing his great novel. But if it had existed - what might Proust have written?
A slightly tongue in cheek rewrite of all seven volumes of In Search of Lost Time by a sexually ambivalent celebrity obsessed with the detailed minutiae of his own daily life, as well as the scandalous peccadilloes of his aristocratic friends, started on November 1, 2010 at http://twitter.com/Prousttweet .
